(Chapter 1) THE BLACK ARROW STRIKES FOR THE FIRST TIME

                                               Part 1
This story is set in the second half of the fifteenth century. At that time England was split into two camps. Each camp was carrying out a bloody feud against the other. At the head of one was King Henry VI. At the head of the other was Richard of York. The latter had organized a revolt against the King. In this he had the support of the landlords and many towns. But he had underestimated the monarch's power. Henry VI, meanwhile, had won over the aristocracy as his allies. Although they did not think highly of the unhappy, some would say half-witted, King, they had him to thank for their many privileges.
